[rant]Eight months after an injury, Barbaro was killed. I refuse to call it "euthinized" because it isn't as humain as people say it is. I myself would have taken him. If stories such as Flicka, Dreamer, and Seabiscuit mean nothing to humans, then so be it. Blind creatures have come back from their blindness to show again. These stories were all true yet people still feel they have the right to give a creature leathle shots to "end their pain." A euthinization doesn't kill them all at once. It takes one-twenty-four hours for the creature to finally die. Let's start using that on humans, yes? See how we all like it!
"Barbaro you brave and lovely beast with your sleek build.IT was us humans who made you race and die im sorry for it and may you forever gallop in heaven" ^Emily^
You could have been a little girl's Dreamer. You deserved so much more yet we shot you down. You were amazing, Barbaro and we horse lover's love you most. Run the races you pick in heaven and make your friends. Become wild and free, my sweet runner, and let no one take you onto those blood stained tracks again.

Okay, Callie. Yes, i loved Barbaro but you do realise that he would be living in pain for the REST OF HIS LIFE. Do you REALLY think thats fair? Horses are smart, yes, but they dont understand why they are in pain when they break their legs or something. Euthinization is a process that actually only takes a few minutes. Unless they were using something else. Ive physically seen a horse, dog, and a cat being put to sleep. It takes about 2 minutes and they die PAINLESSLY.
I dont agree with racing but i dont disagree with it ethier. Ive come to realise that horses cant be forced into something they dont want to do. I love horses, and racehorses but Barbaro died from doing what he loved to do. Imagine if you were told you couldnt do what you love to do most, because its dangerous. No sport in the world is not dangerous. There are always those risks we take. /end rant.
sorry i just needed to get that off my chest. RIP Barbaro. This World lost a horse, but Heaven got it's best racer back.

Ok maybe it isn't my place to say because I don't truly know anything about the whole situation with Barbaro but from what I've gotten didn't they try to save him???. . .didn't they do what they could to help him???. . .I know it's horrible that they had to put him down but in the end wasn't it better for him. . .think of how much pain he was in. . .and euthinization is better then getting a bullet to the head. . .or at least that's my opinion. . .
You try haveing to make the decision on whether or not to put down a horse or any creature. . .sometimes even though it isn't fair or right things just die. . .from my expierience it's better to put a creature to rest then to have them suffer and wind up dieing anyways. . .if you don't even try to save a creature when there is even the slightest bit of chance they might live that is one thing, but if you try to save the creature and your attempts aren't successful and the animal is suffering it is better to kill them then to leave them suffer. . .
What would you do if your horse suddenly got a broken leg and say after 4 months of pain and suffering the horse finally getting better but you know there is still a years worth of painful recovery and your beloved friend is already tired and weary from the pain it has already gone through. . .would you let your best friend suffer through several more months of pain with only the slightest chance of getting better or would you be able to get past your grief, get past your love, get past the overwhelming desire to save your friend and do what you once thought of as unthinkable and put him down. . .that right there determines the true horse lovers from the people who say they love and would do anything for their horses. . .
Once again I know hardly nothing of Barbaro's case but from what I've gathered his owners, trainer, and team did what they could to help him, but despite his fighting spirit he was too tired and too weary to go on so they did what they knew in their hearts of hearts was right and made the decisin to euthenize him. . .
Don't talk badly about the people who tried to save Bararo they did what they could, but in the end they did what they knew was in the best intrest of the horse. . .you can't persecute them for that. . .
As for racing I may not be a big fan of the sport or how some of the horses are treated but it is just like any other sport, there are always risks, but in the end you either take those risks or stand on the side lines. . .
I'm not meaning to cause conflict or diss anyone or anything like that this is just my opinion. . .I'm entitled to it and this is what I think take it or leave it. . .truly it's up to you but I just had to get that off of my mind. . .

I'm confused. I've never heard of this horse, nor about anything that was happening to him. But from what I hear, he got hurt somehow and they put him down?
I really don't know who to side with. There are many different good and bad things about keeping him alive and putting him down.

Barbaro was apparently getting better (as says a few people), so I think they could have done something else.
And if you say it's PAINLESS to have your organs shut down, then thats nice. I won't argue.
